Pediophobia is the fear of dolls. Many are terror-struck of the little playthings because of their representational expressions and naturalistic eyes.
Here is some of the terminology for eye types on antique and vintage dolls.
Flirty Eyes are doll eyes that move from side to side.
Googly Eyes are round, abundant eyes popular on dolls from the early twentieth century.
Intaglio Eyes are molded in the head and typically painted.
Inset Eyes are permanently placed in the head and have no movement.
Sleep Eyes are eyes that open when the doll is in an upright position, and close when the doll is lying flat.
